I’m going up for final round of pregnancy, will less then 3 weeks to go and the anticipation is just as much as any final round I’ve ever been in! Instead filling the tow van with my helmet, gloves, race boots and neck restraint, Dan and I are filling our Ford truck with a baby car seat (safely installed and double checked), blankets and pillows. And, instead of preparing the engine, clutch, tires and tune up, we’ve prepared by taking the birthing classes, read the books, written down notes, and practiced our breathing (yes, Dan practiced with me as well!)

These last 8 ½ months have gone by extremely quickly, and have actually been a pleasant experience. I heard all kinds of horror stories about how uncomfortable being pregnant is, but honestly, I’ve enjoyed it! (Maybe wearing a multi-layer fire suit in the heat of summer in the Midwest for the past 9 years helped me to prepare!) And I must admit, it’s been nice to be spoiled by my husband, sisters, parents and co-workers! (Even my cats are being easy on me. They’ve hardly caused any problems, though they think all these new baby items in the house are their new toys!

We don’t know if baby is a boy or a girl, so I am very excited to meet the little one and of course introduce it not only to the Force family and to the Hood family, but also their racing family! I can’t wait to root on John Force Racing as the Countdown gets ready to start, and teach the baby how to be a race fan. With a dad, mom, grandpa, aunts, uncle and father in law ALL in NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing, I’m pretty sure, boy or girl, it’ll be an NHRA fan for life!
