POINTS LEADER HIGHT TO APPEAR ON WINDTUNNEL WITH DAVE DESPAIN SUNDAY

YORBA LINDA, CA (April 20, 2012) --- As the NHRA Full Throttle Funny Car points leader and winner of the last four NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series events Robert Hight has been in high demand from the media and sponsors. On Sunday night, April 22nd, at 8 p.m. ET he will talk with legendary motorsports journalist Dave Despain host of WindTunnel on SPEED TV. Heading into the 25th annual O’Reilly Auto Parts Spring Nationals at Royal Purple Raceway Park Hight will attempt to become just the fourth driver in NHRA history to win five Funny Car national events in a row joining Hall of Famers Don Prudhomme, boss John Force and Cruz Pedregon.

“It sounds cliché but we are trying to take every race one round at a time. My crew chief Jimmy Prock has a great handle on the tune-up on my Auto Club Ford Mustang and my crew guys are giving us a great Funny Car. We’ll be representing AAA Texas in Houston and we want to get them into the winner’s circle. I won my first race in Houston my rookie year and it has been too long since I have been to the winner’s circle there,” said Hight, a 27-time NHRA national event winner.

“I am looking forward to talking with Dave Despain on Sunday. Getting four wins in a row is more than I could have dreamed. The Four-Wide win was special and I also picked up my first win at the Gatornationals. I always said winning the Gators was a race every racer should have on their resume.”

Only four other drivers have ever won four in a row Force, Pedregon, Kenny Bernstein and Don Prudhomme. The in-season Funny Car record for consecutive wins is five which Prudhomme earned at the start of the 1976 season and Cruz duplicated in 1992. Force has won five in a row twice in back to back seasons, 1993 and 1994. The total record for consecutive wins is seven in a row by Prudhomme when he won the last two races of 1975 and then the first five of 1976.
