Ashley’s April Blog
Now that the race season has gotten on a roll we’ve been on the road a good amount of time though not nearly as much as we’ll be come summer. Since we’ve raced about every other weekend we’ve still been able to spend a little time at home. There are always the normal things to do, like getting caught up at work, doing laundry and dropping off our uniforms at the dry cleaners, but we’ve also managed to organize our time to do some other things not on the weekly “To Do” list.
A few weeks back my husband and I attended a Chicago Blackhawks vs. Los Angeles hockey game at the Staples Center in LA with some of our friends from the IMG Agency. Dan plays hockey and is a goalie, and also got to play a handful of times while we’ve been home out at Anaheim Ice with some of the locals. I went along to cheer him on and take pictures and it was fun to see him do his thing and be a spectator versus the other way around!
After Charlotte, my sister Courtney and I flew down to Bradenton, FL to attend the IMG Academy, which is basically a dream academy for anyone who enjoys sports. We took classes on vision training, muscle training, communication, nutrition and also got to take a tour of the grounds and see many young kids practicing their skills in every sport you could imagine from tennis, to soccer to football. It was a pretty cool place and a great experience!
This past weekend was Easter so my family and I went to church together and made breakfast, painted eggs, went to the movies (Hot Tub Time Machine- ridiculous but very entertaining! Plus, we had an earthquake right in the middle of it!) And went to dinner down by the beach. It was a nice weekend at home and just the right amount of down time to be re energized and ready for Houston.
We fly to Houston for our next event early tomorrow morning and I’m hoping we can repeat last year, and make it to the winner’s circle again come Sunday night. Then it’s home for a day and then off to Vegas, a short drive for us, in which we will bring our two cats, Simba and Gizmo, as they’ll be filmed during the Vegas race weekend for a future Animal Planet episode! April is already flying by and is the perfect mix of racing and time at home. See you at the races in Houston!
