Ashley’s May Blog

May brings flowers and apparently a lot of airline miles as well as I will be on the road almost the entire month racing and also doing appearances and other events around the country. I am home now and enjoying this next week with friends and family, and working out of the office before my time out on the road begins next week. Since I am home for the next 6 days which is a big chunk of time, I’m filling it with “normal” things like working at our Yorba Linda, CA shop and getting caught up before I leave, laundry, eye appointments and other normal things that just have to get done.

There are some fun things I’m looking forward to though in these next few days! My best friend Jen, and her husband Josh (who edits for JFR) are having a birthday party this weekend for their son Quinlan who turns 1 year old! I’m excited that I will actually be home and able to celebrate with them. I remember very clearly a year ago when I got the text that Jen was headed to the hospital for the big event. I was on my way to an Auto Club event in LA with dad and Robert and I was so nervous and excited for her that I think I drove Josh crazy with my texts through out the night! A year goes by fast, and now I’m very lucky to have such great friends and a new little friend in my life, as Quin is always smiling and curious about everything!

I’m also excited to be home to spend Mother’s Day with my mom. I think we will all go to church and then maybe hike up the hill to our favorite local coffee shop for breakfast. And of course, I will be, like most children out there, at the local flower shop Sunday morning picking out flowers for my mom and sister Adria. Come to think of it, it might not be a bad idea to order that ahead of time!

And lastly, this Sunday night we are also celebrating my little sister Brittany’s graduation from Cal State Fullerton! I am very proud of her as she balanced school and racing, and gave her all at both and that is not any easy task to achieve! She is in the teaching credential program right now and is really enjoying working with kids at a local middle school and always has funny stories to share!

I hope all of our fans have a wonderful month! The weather is beautiful and it is definitely time to get outdoors and enjoy it! My mom and I are tossing around the idea of starting a vegetable garden at her house, but I’m not sure if 6 days is long enough to do it! Happy Mother’s Day to all of the mom’s out there and happy May!
