Keep in mind Ashley’s schedule is normally very hectic, but she has committed to giving us a behind-the-scenes look at the wacky world of drag racing.

Happy Easter! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend and was able to spend time with family and friends like we did! Surprisingly, we were at a race event the first part of the weekend which rarely falls on a holiday like Easter. My sisters Brittany and Courtney raced their BrandSource and Sanyo A Fuel dragsters on Friday and Saturday at the Las Vegas divisional race. Many cars entered the race as teams stayed through the week after the national race last weekend and it is only an 8 car field with 3 rounds of eliminations. Brittany did not qualify but Courtney made a great pass at a 5.43 and qualified #3! My husband Dan and I drove up Friday to cheer my sisters on and it was strange to be at an event as a spectator and not as a competitor. We made coffee, kept the bus organized and made lunch and dinner runs. Courtney lost in the 1st round so later that afternoon we drove home and switched gears from race mode to Easter mode! Talk about a crazy weekend!

Sunday morning my parents, sister’s Courtney and Brittany, her boyfriend Bobby and Dan and I got dressed up and went to church together. Afterward we met up with my sister Adria, her husband Robert Hight, and their 4 year old daughter Autumn and went to an Easter brunch. It was great to all be together and the weather was beautiful so afterwards we went back to my parent’s house to have an Easter egg hunt, go swimming and hang out together!

Later in the day after a few errands and time at home Dan and I packed up our cat and headed back over to my parents for a late BBQ. It was great to spend time together other than at a race track! With the craziness of our race schedule sometimes a little downtime is needed and greatly appreciated! It was a great weekend and now we are back into race mode at the shop. I have an Oakley photo shoot today and then it’s off to Atlanta, Georgia tomorrow for our next NHRA Full Throttle event. I hope everyone has a great week and enjoys a little downtime and check out ESPN2 this weekend to see how the Atlanta race is going. Maybe we can get another win and spend Sunday night in winner’s circle!
