Keep in mind Ashley’s schedule is normally very hectic, but she has committed to giving us a behind-the-scenes look at the wacky world of drag racing.

Weekly Blog June 25, 2009

This past weekend we had no NHRA drag race event however I took part in another very special event…my little sister Courtney’s birthday! Since I spend most of my weekends surrounded by mainly men at the races I was very excited to get to take part in a girl’s weekend get away to Las Vegas for some fun and relaxation! We had a great group of girls coming along including my mom, sisters Adria, Brittany and Courtney, co workers Joan and Alicia, family friend Kelsey, and Courtney’s best girl friends “Conk”, “Maldo” and Brie!

Our family friend Craig, who runs our website and retail store RaceStation, was kind enough to drive all of us girls up to Vegas in our company limo which made the weekend that much more special! My former teammate and current funny car competitor Tony Pedregon (who is now leading the points and who I’ve raced against in the last two finals) is sponsored by The Palms Resort and Casino and was nice enough to put us in touch with his good friend and sponsor Jim who helped me to plan an awesome weekend for my sister. I really appreciate everyone’s help as we all had a blast and really enjoyed our girl’s weekend!

We stayed in beautiful suite and Brittany, Kelsey and mom and I went in and decorated the whole room Friday afternoon while Courtney and the rest of the girls were out by the pool when we first arrived at The Palms. We went all out with balloons, crepe paper, snacks and a birthday cake! On Friday’s they have a pool party called ‘Ditch Friday’ where the pools are open to the public and of course the hotel guests and it was really fun especially since it was super hot all weekend long! That night we checked out the dance club in The Palms called Club Rain and had a great time dancing (something that is rarely on my weekend agenda’s! ) On Saturday we were back at the pool and then went out to dinner and out dancing again! Sunday we gambled a little, grabbed lunch and then sadly it was time to pack up our luggage and head back to reality!

All of us girls had a great time together and definitely need to have these weekends more often! I know Courtney had a great time too, which was the whole purpose of our trip, to celebrate her big day with her!

I hope everyone is having a great summer! It’s off to Norwalk, Ohio for our next event. Hopefully we can get to another final and close the deal with a trip to the winner’s circle this weekend. My sisters will also be there racing and I’m sure we will still be laughing about all of our funny memories from our girl’s trip to Vegas 2009!
