Every month Ashley Force Hood is going to give us a brief look into the John Force Racing teams as seen from her perspective.  She will talk about interesting things she saw that relate to traveling to a race, events at a race or interesting fans or situations encountered along the way!

Keep in mind Ashley’s schedule is normally very hectic, but she has committed to giving us a behind-the-scenes look at the wacky world of drag racing.

Our trip in the El Monte RV has finally come to an end. After a full month on the road we have finally returned home to Southern California. This last week after our national event in Sonoma we drove over to Oakdale, Eric Medlen’s hometown, to visit with his family and friends. We had a great time riding horses and visiting with Mimi, Eric’s mom, his cousins Butch and Petee, her daughter Danica, and many others and barbequed down at Eric’s uncle Steve’s lake house. We played horseshoes and dipped our feet in the river and had a blast!

On Tuesday we drove over to Lake Tahoe for a few days to visit with my parents, sisters and niece Autumn. We went out on the boat, barbecued, and actually watched Christmas videos like Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph! (I guess when you’re on vacation you really can do whatever you feel like! J) After a few days there we returned to Sonoma for my sister’s divisional race. We parked right next to Jay and Shelly Payne, so there kids Madison and Toby came over to play with Autumn and our cat in the motor home. On Friday and Saturday the girls did good and qualified their BrandSource and Sanyo A Fuel dragsters tuned by Jerry Darien. Courtney ended up #3 and Brittany ended up #4.

Unfortunately it was a short day for us on Sunday when both girls when out early in round one. Dan and I packed up our things said goodbye to everyone, wished Jay luck in the semi finals, and jumped back on the highway. After a month on the road we’ve had a great time in our RV, but are ready to get home and be in one place for a little while. In two weeks its our NHRA event in Brainerd so we’ll get some rest and relaxation, get organized at work and then get back to the track and try to get back into that #1 spot!
