Keep in mind Ashley’s schedule is normally very hectic, but she has committed to giving us a behind-the-scenes look at the wacky world of drag racing.

Ashley’s Weekly Blog
Week of Sept 14

Whew! What a crazy couple weeks! It was so crazy that I actually forgot to do last week’s blog! I usually work on it Sunday after the event or Monday morning on my flight home but last Monday we were very busy getting a big win in Indy! After a great weekend of qualifying and ending up in the #2 spot right behind my brother in law Robert in the #1 spot, when it was all said and done he and I ended up lined up for the finals of the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals Monday afternoon! It was a great way to end the weekend with the Auto Club funny car and the Castrol funny car in the finals as we knew whatever happened we’d be celebrating in the winner’s circle! It was a long and exhausting day for everyone but my team hung in there and stayed focused and motivated and it paid off. The stands were packed, the sun was out and it was a great day for a race!

Tuesday morning we got up and stopped off at the track to get organized and then headed up to Chicago, IL for a baseball game. My husband is from IL so it was fun to get to go to a White Sox game and I threw out the opening pitch! I got to meet a few of the players before the game who had actually watched our race the day before. It was cool to now get to see them do their thing and a great way to relax after a long weekend.

When we got back in to town Wednesday afternoon it was all about getting caught up. We’d been on the road since the Reading race two weeks back so first we had to go pick up our cat Simba and give him some serious attention! Then it was all about doing the laundry, the mail and dropping off the dry cleaning. Over the weekend Dan and I spent some time at the beach since summer will soon be coming to an end! It was a nice low key weekend and now we’re back in the office and getting ready to head to Charlotte tomorrow to kick off the Countdown! Wish us luck!
